A family of famous cyclists
Born in Carhaix, Jocelyn Canevet spent his childhood in Gourin. His parents had set their sights on moving to the USA. They lived there for two years but decided to return to Brittany. "In the end, there's no place like home!
But how could we introduce Jocelyn without mentioning Mury, his father, and Marcel, his grandfather?
The story began in 1947 when Marcel Canevet, a seasoned cyclist and podium regular, opened his first cycle repair and sales workshop in Rue Neuve, Gourin. He first moved his business near the church, then again in 1960, to 8 rue Famille Bouchard. His son Mury, also an accomplished cyclist, joined him as a mechanic in the 1980s. He continued to run the business until the end of 2000.
Marcel's eight children all had a passion for cycling, making the sport much more than a hobby. Every week, their daily lives were punctuated by competitions that injected energy and emotion into their lives. This family of competitors was well known in the cycling world. Even today, everyone in Gourin has a story to tell about the Canevet family's sporting achievements.

From an early age, Jocelyn has been immersed in this world, developing a great curiosity for cycling.
Cycling runs in the family
Initially, however, he was a motocross rider. Following an injury, he turned to cycling for rehabilitation. It was then that he discovered a new passion that was to become central to his life...

A return to his roots
With a wealth of professional experience in the world of cycling and after becoming a cycle sales technician, Jocelyn decided to revive the family business. He didn't hesitate to put his heart and soul into this project to revive Cycles Canevet and continue the story begun by Marcel and Mury before him.
I thought it was a shame to leave an empty shop in Gourin, especially as it was a family business.

In 2023, after 20 years out of business, he reopened Cycles Canevet.
In his workshop, Jocelyn works surrounded by the memories of his grandfather, and at the same wooden counter as Marcel and Mury before him. He talks about it with great respect. "It's for the retro aspect, but above all it's to show the family legacy and my grandfather's era. It's important to preserve all that.
Jocelyn sells and repairs bikes, as well as selling specialist accessories. He has also invested in a van to offer home repair services. As a bike hire company, he takes the time to advise each customer, helping them to choose the bike that suits them best. He also guides his customers to the routes best suited to their tastes, helping them to discover some magnificent scenery.
He himself gets on his bike as soon as his day's work is done. He also finds time to get involved with the Club de chasseurs cyclistes de Gourin.
- A true connoisseur of the trails of the Montagnes Noires and Sainte-Barbe in Le Faouët, he proudly represents the third generation of cycling mechanics in the family. Jocelyn and Cycles Canevet are on a roll!
