Le Pays du roi Morvan for you
It's an unexpected discovery in terms of both nature and heritage. And it's beautiful! It's full of little-known discoveries.
Curiosity is not a bad thing
In Kernascléden, just a few wingbeats from the superb Notre-Dame church, an astonishing museum awaits you: the Maison de la Chauve-souris (House of the Bat). Don't be afraid to enter! You won't be greeted by a colony of little vampires, but by the lovely smile of Mylène Huguet.
Mylène grew up in the Vendée, where she is originally from. She was soon gripped by a desire to get to know the world and the people in it. Motivated, she studiedhistory, art history andarchaeology. "If you want to know where you're going, it's good to understand where you've come from". When she finished university, she became a guide at various châteaux in the Loire Valley. As she's a very hard worker, she obtained management positions at tourist sites. Each time, she was delighted to discover the specific cultural and gastronomic characteristics of the regions where her professional experiences took her. And, as she is also a traveller, she spent a few months in Polynesia on a scientific mission. After this highly enriching period, she settled in Brittany and, more specifically, at the Maison de la Chauve-souris in Kernascléden.

And why is there such an unusual museum in this charming Breton village?
Several years ago, a colony of bats moved into the attic of the church. They've found a very spacious home there, a little dark but that's what old buildings are for! There's plenty of space, and they have a magnificent playground.
One of the most beautiful churches in Brittany is their home... Don't these ladies have a taste for luxury?
In any case, the bats love the church and Mylène loves La Maison de la Chauve-souris and the Pays du Roi Morvan! She loves "this pretty corner of Brittany, full of meaning. Everywhere you look you can feel the importance of biodiversity. Mylène is a firm believer in ecology and the protection of nature, and it's not for nothing that she enjoys the walks along the river Scorff so much!

A true ambassador for wildlife and heritage
Mylène puts all her energy into this museum, which not only tells the story of bats, but also talks about protecting the environment. The visit is fun and particularly aimed at children, but is suitable for everyone. Between the night immersion room, the giant ears, the mechanical wing, the colony of bats live via infrared camera... you won't know where to turn!
With her infectious good humour, Mylène, for whom "a day without laughter is a day wasted", tells you all about the original activities, the games and the night-time guided tours during which you can see the bats leaving the church to feed.

At dusk, when they emerge from the bell tower, it's a marvellous sight that even the inhabitants of Kernascléden can't get enough of.
Her eyes sparkle when she talks about the canoe trips on the Lac du Bel Air in Priziac with Éric Le Fauconnier, an instructor at the watersports centre. "We get up close to these amazing little mammals in their natural habitat. It's nothing like a zoo! This is the real life of bats! In Mylène, the little Draculas with their sharp teeth have found an excellent ambassador who is totally destroying their unjustified bad reputation. Once and for all, bats don't bring bad luck and they don't cling to your hair!
To round off her visit to the museum, Mylène encourages visitors to go through the doors of the church because, after all, that's where the bats live, even if they are well hidden. "It's a pleasure to send them off to discover this church, a heritage treasure and the jewel of Kernascléden. As a trained medievalist, she answers visitors' questions with enthusiasm.
She also advises them onother visits to the Pays du Roi Morvan, such as the Drukpa Buddhist Centre and its park in Plouray, which she is particularly fond of.

So, Mylène, who are you really? More like Batman's fiancée for her bat-like appearance or Quasimodo's Esmeralda for her Notre-Dame steeple?
We're still wondering... In any case, we've been seduced and, personally, we've chosen to give her angel wings for her kindness and so that she can continue to make us glide through the magical world of queens by night.
